Who We Are
Shabel Enterprises is a boutique data consultancy in business intelligence and data warehousing, master data management, and AI on governed data — three disciplines we weave into data you can trust. We are principal-led and senior by design: when you engage us, you work directly with senior expertise — present from first call to final handoff — and you leave with documentation, standards, and a team equipped to run what we build.
Our Story
Shabel Enterprises was founded in Illinois in 1997 and is now headquartered in Amarillo, Texas. The constant across those years has been the work itself — building dependable data systems at the state of the art — even as the state of the art kept moving. The practice began by web-enabling custom databases when that was the frontier, sharpened into enterprise business intelligence and data warehousing, deepened into master data management and data governance, and now extends to making data AI-ready. Different technologies, one discipline: trusted data, built to last.
That arc is the whole idea behind the tagline we've carried for decades — doing state of the art business with an old-fashioned flair. The state of the art is the modern half: cloud data platforms, automated delivery, AI. The old-fashioned flair is the craftsmanship: governed, documented, done right, and handed back to you running cleanly.
Meet the Founder
Jeffrey Shabel — Founder & Principal
Jeff is a rarity: a genuine technology generalist with a deep, modern focus. Over a career spanning more than a quarter century, he has done nearly everything in the field — wiring networks and server rooms, building and configuring systems and software, designing integrated circuits, and programming across websites, applications, and web services. That whole-system fluency is now concentrated where it matters most for clients: data architecture, governance, and master data management.
It's an unusual combination, and a useful one. Because Jeff has built the layers beneath the data — the networks, the servers, the code, the silicon — he sees how a data decision ripples through the entire stack, not just the database. That is the "old-fashioned flair": the instinct of a craftsman who understands the whole machine.

- Additional certifications in data governance and master data management, data analysis, and generative AI — a deliberate commitment to staying current with the state of the art.
- Enterprise-scale track record — mastered enterprise data at national and global scale; modernized master data management across conflicting international regulatory environments; and rebuilt enterprise data warehouses and CI/CD delivery pipelines across consumer goods, quick-service restaurants, utilities, financial services, and healthcare.
